"Bohodukhiv is a city of sustainable economic prosperity"; it is the vision for the future as defined by citizens of the City of Bohodukhiv in the Kharkiv region, formulated when the City was working on its strategic plan for economic development. An old Ukrainian town, which will celebrate its 340th year on August 7, 2002, on the occasion of its Anniversary wants to emphasize once again its readiness to collaborate with Ukrainian and foreign businessmen for developing the city economy. |
The Bohodukhiv community strives to make the city rich, beautiful, and friendly by means of developing local industry and attracting investment. In the course of developing its strategic plan, the city determined its strengths, which show an attractive state of infrastructure and workforce. It is also important that the city has preserved its clean environment, rich folk traditions and cultural heritage.
"Bohodukhiv means Holy Spirit in Ukrainian, and the city of such name has no right to lag behind in economic development," says Mayor of Bohodukhiv, Yevhen Chuiko. "The City administration is open to business and we invite businessmen from all parts of Ukraine and from other countries to come and see it for themselves," adds the Mayor.
The process of strategic development for Bohodukhiv and other eight territorial units of the Kharkiv region is supported by the Strategic Planning Activity of Kharkiv Partnership, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. It is thanks to SPA support that a Department for Economic Development has been established in the city. The Department takes an active part in organizing the Anniversary celebration events on August 7.
